Jean-Baptiste DEL AMO is a young writer with a rare talent and an impressive career ahead of him. His literary work already includes four dazzling novels.
First came Une éducation libertine, which won the Prix Goncourt for a first novel and the Prix François Mauriac from the Académie Française.
While staying at the Villa Médicis in Rome, he published his second novel, Le sel, with Gallimard, followed shortly thereafter by his third novel, Pornographia, which won the Prix Sade.
During his last residency at the Villa Kujoyama in Japan, he pursued several personal projects, including his latest novel, Règne animal, which received the Prix de la rentrée littéraire.
Alongside his rich literary work, Jean-Baptiste devotes himself to writing film projects.
Tomorrow Will Be Brighter (Demain il fera beau) is the narrative prelude to his future feature film, currently in writing.
From the Director's Note:
The theme of childhood intrigues me, and I have addressed it in several of my books. I don't believe childhood is a realm of innocence, but rather a fragile form of enchantment (which doesn't prevent it, like the tales of the Brothers Grimm, from being dark and poisonous).
Family is also a theme that touches me because of its complexity. I don't believe it is unambiguously a loving and protective unit. It is also often the scene of intimate, ordinary drama, in which childhood experiences disillusionment.
I would like to approach these questions through Tomorrow Will Be Brighter.
